M８８年に渡米、N.Y.クイーンズに拠点を構えリアルなHIP HOPを体感すると共に、MASTERKEYのHIP HOP LIFEが始まった。間もなく、N.Y.のTOP CLUB「MARS」「TUNNEL」といったU.S.最大級のCLUBにてDJ活動を開始、日々、DJとしてのスキルを磨く生活を送ると同時に、DEV LARGE,CQ,NIPPSと共にラップグループ「BUDDHA BRAND」を結成する。９５年、N.Y.におけるHIP HOP活動を一時中断、BUDDHA BRANDの“凄腕DJ”として帰国しデビューシングル「人間発電所」をリリース。デビューアイテムでもあり、当時としても小さなマーケットでもあった HIP HOPというジャンルでもありながらも異例のセールスを記録し、日本の音楽マーケットへ衝撃を与えた。その後もコンスタントにアイテムをリリースし高セー ルスを上げ、９７年にリリースされた「天運我に有り（撃つ用意）」は自動車メーカーのCMソングにも起用され、その認知度はセールスと合わせ全国区とな る。BUDDHA BRANDの活動と並行し、本場仕込みのDJプレイも話題になり、９７年に始まったDJ MASTERKEY主催のイベント「DADDY’S HOUSE」は、平均集客１０００人オーバーという毎週開催されるレギュラーイベントとしては驚異的な数字を叩き出し、名実共にJAPANESE NO.1 PARTY DJの地位を確立。創作活動も積極的に行ってきており、９７年には自身初の名義アイテム『FAR EAST COASTING』を発表、今や女性ヴォーカリストとして不動の地位を築き上げた「MISIA」の2nd Single「陽のあたる場所」のREMIXを手掛け、MISIAブレイクの原動力となると共に、HIP HOPの可能性をマーケットのみならず、音楽業界にも示し、現在のR&Bブームの土台を作った人間と言われている。DJとしてのリリースアイテム も多数発表しており、中でも世界的に注目されたアイテムとして、世界最強のHIP HOPレーベル「Def Jam」レーベルのオフィシャルMIX CD『DEF JAM 2000 - THE X DAY』を日本人として初めて手掛け、その卓越した実力を日本に留めることなく、世界レベルのHIP HOPアーティストとして活躍中である。０１年にはDJワーク、創作活動に加え、全ての活動能力を備えたレーベル「THE LIFE ENTERTAINMENT」を自ら立ち上げ、メジャー流通を駆使し、０１年4月には初のレーベルアイテムであると共に自分名義であるプロデュース作品 「ONE LIFE(WON LIGHT)」をリリース。そして１０月には自身の第一弾集大成でもあり、自身の主催しているイベントのタイトルを冠した作品『DADDY’S HOUSE vol.1』をリリース。その後もvol.2 / vol.3とコンスタントにリリースし続けJAPANESE HIP HOP界では異例のセールスを記録し、HIP HOPマーケットのみならず、DJ MASTERKEYの人気、知名度はPOPマーケットも席巻した。05年10月にはBESTアルバム、06年6月、DADDY'S HOUSEシリーズ音源40曲超を使用し自らがDJ MIXをし、DJ MASTERKEY＝DADDY'S HOUSEに終止符を撃つべく問題作「THE ADVENTURES OF DADDY'S HOUSE」をリリース。新たなるDJ MASTERKEYの幕開けとなった。そして’07年1月、パイオニアが今度は邦楽の超最強mixを世に打ち放つ！！参加アーティストのそうそうたるライ ンアップに驚愕！！今やJ-RAPを代表するKREVAを始め、R&B界からもDOUBLE、加藤ミリヤ、SOULHEAD、安室 奈美恵、COLOR、e.t.cといった豪華メンバーを収録！！REGGAE勢からは、MINMI、PUSHIM、VIP CREW,そして、噂の卍LINE !・・そうあの役者です！！未だかつて無いこのラインナップ！KINGがKINGたる所以です。あの生きる伝説、 HIPHOPの先駆者!無敵の3本MIC「BUDDHA BRAND」大神も降臨！！凄腕が唸りますよ！！ 皆様 YO CHECK!!そしてオリコン総合チャート初登場１９位という、好成績を上げたこの作品。まだまだ、優良な日本語楽曲をマーケットへ違う側面からアプローチしたいという、DJ MASTERKEYの強い意志が有り、シリーズ化を決定！ ２００６年６月、シリーズ第２弾商品「FROM THE STREETS VOL.2」をリリース!!
